Organisation Profile

The Foundation was launched with the aim of advancing our understanding of oncology, specifically relating to sarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) and desmoid tumours, as well as other rare soft tissue and bone tumours (e. g. tenosynovial giant cell tumours (TGCT)/pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) or chordomas). It does this through science and research, promoting public healthcare and public health as well as education, national education and vocational training (including student support).

Patients and experts are to work together in the following six areas:

Die Deutsche Sarkom-Stiftung ist eine gemeinsame Organisation von Patienten und Experten. Sie setzt sich dafür ein, die Situation für Sarkom-Patienten in Deutschland zu verbessern – engagiert, qualitäts-, ergebnis- und patientenorientiert. Dafür engagiert sie sich in verschiedenen Bereichen: Information, Forschung, Fortbildung, Versorgungsstrukturen inkl. Etablierung von spezialisierten Sarkom-Zentren, Diagnose- und Behandlungsqualität, als auch Patienteninformation und Interessensvertretung.
