Group Profile

Friends of Max (www.friendsofmax.info) is the Support Group arm of The Max Foundation in India and is registered as a Public Charitable Trust. Its objective is to increase awareness and act as a patient support/advocacy group for underserved chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) cancer patients. It has developed a network of City Chapter Leaders, trained over 260 volunteers and held over 150 meetings in cities all over India. Its Medical Advisory Board includes some of the finest oncologists in the country.

Friends of Max (www.friendsofmax.info), भारत में The Max Foundation की सहायक समूह शाखा है तथा एक धर्मार्थ न्यास  के रूप में पंजीकृत है। इसका उद्देश्य, दीर्घकालीन माएलोइड ल्यूकेमिया (CML) ( एक प्रकार का रक्त कैंसर) तथा  गैस्ट्रोइंटेस्टिनल स्ट्रोमल ट्यूमर (GIST) (जठरांत की एक गिल्टी/पेट का कैंसर) के, अल्प सहायता प्राप्त  मरीजों की सहायता/पक्ष समर्थन समूह की तरह कार्य करना और इस बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना है। इसने शहरी-अध्याय प्रमुखों का एक नेटवर्क विकसित किया है, २६० से अधिक स्वयं सेवकों को प्रशिक्षित किया है और सम्पूर्ण भारत के शहरों में १५० से अधिक सभाओं के आयोजन किए हैं। इसके चिकित्सकीय सलाहकार मंडल में भारत के कुछ बेहतरीन कैंसर विशेषज्ञ शामिल हैं।
